I love Bob, but yeesh, that's a crazy contract. I guess cap floor teams have a little more wiggle room in their goalie space to work with, but man, when you consider Varlamov's hit, it's crazy to me.

It is risky contract, but Bob is better and more durable than Varlamov, so of course he was going to get a more lucrative deal. Yes, we will see how it goes. But, I'm happy to see them going for it.

That’s the price you pay if you want to land a top 5 goalie in the league. The organization is in win now mode. They couldn’t take a chance on letting him walk and settling for second best. They needed to show the fans they are committed so they paid the price. If he didn’t get it from us someone else would of paid him it. I for one am stoked about it. Now is the time to make these moves, we’re in prime position to make a push now.

NMC is up in 5 yrs and I’m thinking by that time knight will be our backup goalie and close to taking over the job.

I know, and you're right...just a lot of cash to splash on him. But he's a top tier guy. However, I like the the NMC being up after five years (that you pointed out).

If I had the choice I'd rather go big on Panarin and fill in a lesser goalie. It's a big commitment in dollars and term for a 31 year old net minder. That said, Cats were very active and did address the teams real needs, so you have to be pretty happy about that.

Good for the Cats. Once you have a great backstop all stars will begin to align. Talon has done a great job. May the season begin.

"If you had the choice".... Panthers went just as big on Panarin as they did with Bob. Panarin's CHOICE (the only choice that mattered) was The Big Apple, and he used FL's offer to get NYR to match and pay tax difference between offers. Well played by Panarin. FL matching that offer would've cut their own throat, Bread was always sprinkles on top of the ice cream....not really needed. FL passed on the bidding war and tried to address their actual needs, instead.

Florida is one of those teams that will really piss people off when they come to town and kick their team's ass....
